Paul Ekon

Paul Ekon, currently a private businessman, served as a director at Management Technologies Inc. He refers to himself as a venture capitalist, but he has a background in many areas of business. From being a professional photographer to running restaurants to selling cosmetics and door knobs, he's done it all.

Paul Ekon was born in 1959 into a family of Greek and Jewish ancestry. His mother died when he was still young so he went off to the prestigious boarding school at St. Stithians College to finish his education. St. Stithians College is located in his hometown of Johannesburg, and, along with being one of the oldest schools in the country, it is also one of the more exclusive schools. When he was finished learning, he went immediately into the Air Force of South Africa. He spent two years in the air force and then began a career as a professional photographer.

Paul Ekon's first job was as a photographer for the defense magazine called Paratus. That experience led him to his next job in Los Angeles, U.S.A. He moved there for a short while and worked in the field while learning from the pros. After picking up professional experience and making important contacts, he left Los Angeles for his native South Africa.

It seems as though some of the lively entertainment industry that Paul Ekon became acquainted with in Los Angeles followed him back to Johannesburg. He turned his creative talents towards entertainment, including the restaurant business. He opened several local restaurants including the Walnut Grove, Hot Tin Roof, and Harpers.

He also began working with consumer products, beginning with toiletries and ending with door knobs and handles. In 1995 he sold the knobs and handles business and invested in Management Technologies Inc. Management Technologies Inc. produces two specialty products, Abraxsys and the OpenTrade family.
